Importance of Joining a Photography/Camera Club

The reason I chose this as a topic, was I always see people that are eager to learn photography but don’t have the venue and to learn photography.

Here are some basic reasons, I would suggest you join a club.

1. Improve your photography.

Joining your a club will surely improve your photography. Seeing how others shoot
and studying their different shooting styles give you an insight to their
photography. You will be able to compare different styles and effects that
photographers do and choose the one that you are comfortable with.

The contest “themes” will give you a window to the photographers mind and how he
thinks the interpretation and execution will always be different because these are
expressions of their own creative styles.

2. Meet new friends that share the same passion.

When joining a club, you will meet new people that share the same passion of
photography and can keep this passion alive. It is hard to shoot by yourself and
share your work if no one is interested. In joining a club, you have an audience, a
friend and a teacher all rolled up into one.

3. Increase your confidence.

Showing of your photos and learning from each contest will give you the confidence
to be able to present your style and photographic work to others. As you build your
confidence you will also build up your own style and in turn build up your
photographic identity to others.

4. Explore the world together.

Sometimes you are given the opportunity to go travel as a group and explore
different places and share these places thru your photography. At times you are
invited to On-the-spot shooting contests which are usually done out of town. These
are some of the things that put your creative juices to the test. Showing the world
thru your eyes is always a reward in itself.

5. Humility.

In a club you will learn humility. Not everyone will like your style and the expensive
cameras are at par with any digital or film camera. The Photographers eye is what
counts. It is the theme execution that counts. You will always be judged and will not
always be on top. This is what drives you to perform better and want to outdo the
others.

6. Learn for Free

The club is where you can go and learn for free by asking question on how the
photos were taken presented or how it was shot. you can learn from other members
that specialize in different fields like portraiture, wildlife, fashion, interior, wedding
or food. You can share tips and tricks that you have learned and understand how
others do their work.

7. Stock Photos

We have monthly meetings in our club and during those monthly meetings we have
our contest with different Theme each month. Thru the years you will be able to
compile Photos from different topics and from different Places and eventually have
your own mini “stock photo library”.

Buying a Digital Camera? Understand the Basics and Find the Best Equipment For Your Needs

It seems like everyone has a digital camera these days and digital cameras have revived the art of photography as a hobby. As digital camera manufacturers improve equipment in quality and price, more people are embracing the benefits of digital photography and putting their film cameras on the shelf. If you’re looking to make the move to a digital understanding the basics of a digital camera can help guide you through understanding how the differences and similarities with film cameras can provide you with a digital camera that fits your needs.

My first digital camera has a 640 by 480 pixel resolution and saved images to floppy disks. It was a little clunky, but it worked well and I was happy with the results. Today, the quality of that camera would barely qualify as a web cam for some people. The technology curve continues to move along for digital cameras but today most digital cameras should be able to provide you with a simple “point and click” experience and provide enough resolution to print 4 by 6 inch prints that you’ll be happy to archive in a scrapbook.

The resolution of most digital cameras is measured today in “mega pixels.” This is a measure of the number of dots which are available to digitally describe the image as a computer file. A digital camera with a 3.1 mega pixel resolution is usually enough to produce pictures that look like a film print on a 4 by 6 print. Moving up to a digital camera with a 5.1 mega pixel resolution will provide a sharper image at the same print size. Can everyone tell the difference? No they can’t. When shopping for a camera, don’t be mesmerized by claims that you must have the very highest resolution to be happy with your digital pictures. Look at samples and select the camera that meets your price range and quality desires.

Generally, digital cameras with a resolution lower than 1 mega pixel are good for images you plan on emailing to people, or posting on the web, but the resolution is not high enough for quality prints. If you plan on making film-style prints of your pictures, you should make your minimum 3.1 mega pixels.

The next issue with digital cameras is how it gets the electricity it needs to function. Many cameras today use rechargeable batteries but some still use AA size batteries. If you plan on taking lots of pictures, a camera that uses disposable batteries can become a very expensive camera, but if the camera has a rechargeable battery with a short life between charges, you might find yourself without power when a great photo opportunity presents itself or you may be stuck buying an extra, and often expensive, rechargeable battery which is custom designed to only fit that specific camera. When you have made you short list of digital cameras meeting your quality requirements, be sure to compare battery life statistics from the manufacturer.

As with film cameras, most digital cameras have automatic settings that adjust to provide a “point and shoot” experience. Some cameras also have manual settings which mimic advanced film camera settings such as aperture and exposure. Digital cameras often have additional features which allow for special effects and even picture taking in very low light settings. These features may or may not be important to you in a digital camera. How often did you load black and white film in your film camera? Chances are these nice-to-have features are not a high priority for most digital camera owners.

Most of the digital cameras feature an LCD view screen. This lets you shoot the image perfectly and then to check it. and is probably one of the most appreciated features of a digital camera over a film camera. The LCD does use up electricity though and by turning your camera off when you are not shooting pictures will preserve battery life.

Most digital cameras use a removable memory card on which pictures are stored. If you have a computer with a built-in reader of a memory card, checking to see if the digital camera uses a compatible type of memory card can make it much easier for you to transfer images to your PC and reduce the expensive of a separate memory card reader. If your digital camera comes with a data transfer cable, keep in mind that the memory card readers are usually much faster and provide greater flexibility. It’s best to keep the data transfer cable in the box.

Overall, most digital camera manufacturers have done an excellent job in making the transition from film cameras to digital cameras a painless one. By knowing some small details about the minor differences, you should have no problem finding a digital camera that you will enjoy and use frequently.

Cars in the Suburbs

If you live anywhere in the United States outside the city then you more than likely need a car. A car lets you live away from the crowds and then travel there if you want. If you live in the city then you can just take public transportation or a cab. The parking in the city is a real headache and it is easier just to get around without a car.

A lot of people in the U.S. have families in communities surrounding the city. The parents then drive into the city each day to work. They can take the subway or train too. Companies and corporations tend to do business in the city.

If you commute every day then you should get an economical car that does not burn much gas. You can get to the same place with spending much less. Comfort is a big deal and you want a car that is comfortable because if your commute is long then you can enjoy your ride.Carpools are the best and if you can find other people in your neighborhood that work in the city too then you can drive together. This is so encouraged that there are lanes specifically made for cars with more than two people. They are usually less crowded and you can get too and from work in a lot less time. Living in the suburbs has many benefits for your family. All you have to do is figure out how to make the commute into and out of the city as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Start Your Own Photography Business from Home

Anyone with the right camera equipment, and the necessary skills can set up a home business, marketing photography. You need only to convert a room of your house into an office, and then you can work immediately.

With modern technology in the form of SLR digital cameras, you do not even need the room for a dark room. You need only to have a personal computer and a photo-editing program. The standard is Adobe Photoshop.

It is not necessary to clutter yourself with equipment you do not need. You can hire equipment on and when you need it basis. You have the freedom to work part time for a while until you can devote yourself full time to photography. All you need to be is a serious photographer. There are two types of photographers that makes their living from photography, the serious photographer and the very serious photographer. You can always bookmark this link and then you can quickly access just about all you’ll ever need from here.

Whilst the technical skills needed to make a successful photographer have never been easier, other aspects have changed the business. The market for photographs of virtually every type has widened, the world seems to have an insatiable appetite for photographs. However the price has fallen as the marketing net has broadened. Photographers are needed in many more fields. For instance many people use car web sites, they simply did not exist ten years ago, and they sell their products as a result of photography. Cameras used by scuba diver’s are now an excellent quality, and whilst they are initially expensive, they have forged a new market. People celebrate special occasions more with photography, than they did years ago. The travel and advertising markets have a greater need for landscape, travel and nature shots.

It is now easier than ever to turn your dream into reality and create a worthwhile business out of an engrossing hobby. However in today’s modern world there is more to it than simply pointing a camera, and shooting a picture. You need to be aware of marketing techniques, and here marketing simply means transferring ownership of a product, in this case an image from a buyer to seller. You also need to be aware of any local gaps in the market in your local area. You should also try to be on top of your competitor’s prices, to undercut an existing photographer is one choice, but to neglect to value your skills and not charge enough to cover your overheads is another matter entirely. Remember this, its an important point.

Use your skills to the best advantage of the business and define what you want from it. Writing a business plan helps to keep you focused on the areas you specifically want to exploit. A business plan helps you to define your goals and strategies, it will be changed and updated, but it will help you, to keep things in perspective. You can then refer back to it when things become confusing or complicated. Everyone’s business plan will be different, as every objective will be different, but there are certain common factors that make up a good business plan which will help your business grow. It allows you to develop a professional attitude to your business, which not only helps you to increase your earnings, but also help you to finance your business.

For the photographer it should include, your business name, or your own, with full details of the proposed location of the business, a copy of your logo, as well as details of your copyright notices. What is the form of your proposed business (sole ownership, partnership, Limited Liability Company or Corporation). This should be followed by a table of contents, which focuses on a logical order. There are resources that will give you further details on such as profitable-photography.com

Included after this should be the type of business you intend to pursue, in a fair amount of detail, and it should contain the services you intend to offer. This section should include any future gaols or avenues you would like to explore, stating your clear objectives. This is so you can check at a later date whether your objectives are on course, or if you have got sidetracked.

If you envisage at any time you may need financial help, then you should include your personal business history.

You should also state a clear and concise marketing plan that should demonstrate how your business will differentiate from the businesses of your competitors. You should be able to establish whom your customers will be, as well as where your market will be, as in wholesale or retail or a combination of both. You should also be able to determine how long this type of market will be available to yourself.

The next section should clearly define your opposition, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. This should include the ways you may be able to exploit any gaps in the market in the specific area where you live. A section should follow this on how you intend to market and promote your individual services.

A financial segment should be included as to how you intend to manage the day-to-day bills of the business. How you intend to price your services, and what factors influence this pricing structure, which includes a section on your competitor’s financial structures. This means a fair amount of detective work as well as homework. Get your friends to ask from quotes from the local competition. Or try an even more direct approach, tell your competitor’s that you intend to start a new business, and that you do not want to undercut them, as this reduces the cake for everyone. They may well offer to help you construct a pricing structure that ensures everyone’s livelihood. It is in their interests to help. Not everyone will be cooperative, but it may mean you can get a truer picture of the market factors that govern your area.

Make a list of all the equipment you will need in your first year, as well as how and where you intend to purchase. Note any difficulties that may arise in obtaining your supplies. Note whether the prices of your supplies have a seasonal fluctuation, that may help you influence you when to buy. You should make a note of any local licenses that will be necessary, as well as any zoning restrictions, that may restrict the growth of your business. Your neighbours may not be thrilled at a procession of customer’s to your door, check whether they can restrict your services. Make a study of all your business insurance requirements.

The final segment should be devoted to how you intend to finance the growth of your business, as well as isolating what your financial needs will be. This should include a projection on your future earnings, as well as an accurate assessment of your outgoings’. This should be assessed on a monthly basis for the first year, and on an annual basis for the following three years. An important aspect of the financial statement is an assessment of the break-even point of your business, in other words the minimum you will have to take to pay your expenses.

The purpose of this documentation is to allow you to enunciate what the core elements of your business will be, in doing this it should help you to be able to quickly evaluate the success of your business objectives. If you are not clear on your objectives then you cannot possibly make a plan to bring about the success of those objectives.

Removing Cracks and Creases when Restoring Old Photos - 5 Minute Digital Fix

A common problem with old photos is that they often have un-desirable cracks and creases.

These can be removed quite easily using the Clone, Healing and Patch tools found in Adobe Photoshop.

The problem is that this can become a very time consuming activity if the photo in question is severely damaged.

This article describes a correction method using a free Action for Adobe Photoshop that can take less than five minutes to correct the majority of cracks and creases in an old photo

For several months now I have been using a Photoshop Action called de-crack, developed by Tim J. Edwards, with very effective results.

The original example image (Image 1) on our web-site page is typical of the sort of damaged photos we encounter on a daily basis.

As mentioned, correcting these flaws in Photoshop is actually not difficult but can take a lot of time.

Using Tim’s excellent de-crack Photoshop Action will not necessarily result in a perfect “de-cracked” photo.

Having said that, it certainly eliminates the more obvious cracks and creases resulting in you then needing to “tidy up” the outstanding cracks and creases manually with the Clone, Healing and Patch tools.

Now before we get started, you will need to get a hold of a copy of Tim’s de-crack Photoshop Action which you can download for free from the RetouchPRO web-site by searching for “de-crack” at the following link:-

You will have to download a very small .ZIP file which will contain the single Photoshop .ATN action file.

After you uncompress the de-crack.zip file you will need to save decrack.atn in Photoshop’s “Photoshop Actions” folder and then “load” the de-crack action into your current action list.

You’re now ready to give it a try …

Step - 1

Open up your damaged image in Photoshop

Step - 2

Run the De-crack Action with a high-pass value of 0.3.
Run the De-crack Action with a high-pass value of 0.3 again.

Run the De-crack Action with a high-pass value of 1.5.

Each steps takes only a few seconds and should result in three new layers which collectively mask out the majority of image damage.

Step - 3

The end result is the elimination of most of the cracking damage, which will then allow you time to spend on the remaining cracks and creases, which are usually quite easy to correct manually.

If you find that the de-crack action has in-advertently lost some of the detail of parts of the image, you can easily go to the offending “de-crack” layer in question and erase the de-crack effect selectively using the eraser tool, bringing back wanted detail.

And there you have it!!

Less than five minutes of digital image manipulation to remove cracks and creases from old photos.

If you find the steps taking are a little hard to understand in this text based article, you can click on the link at the end of this article to see the same method explained on our website with the aid of example graphical images.

Nice offer 27500 dollar at a good loan rate of 17.8 percent

Inspect to see if the bank who wants to give you a credit loan is fine. It makes no difference if you live in Buffalo Grove Illinois or in Fairfield Ohio a effective online check up will relieve you often lots of disoblige. of the banks wil show you a rate that looks reasonable but feels naughtily or so after a period of time.

6.1 percent interest rate may come out so good but will that be perpetual after you have to redeem your money loan. This is why now you need to inquire and see to it if you can have a money loan at a dependable percent rate of interest. You should be hopeful today to examine if you have a great deal or if you don’t with the merchant bank that offers you a loan. A moneylender in Minot North Dakota or so may have a total totally different actual loan rate for a 17500 dollar credit loan then a moneylender in Novato California and that makes a vast clear gap in your weekly pay offs. Now you can look into interest rates quickly online and meet if there are other conditions you should know about.

Get Closer to Your Subject

Almost any shot will look better if you take two or three steps closer to your subject. Filling the frame entirely with your subject will make a terrific difference to your photos.

Alternatively, instead of moving closer, use the Optical Zoom of your camera to get a close up shot. Don’t use your Digital Zoom as it will degrade your image quality.

When taking shots of family and friends, most people place the subject’s full body in the frame, or place head and arms in the shot. Instead, fill the frame with your subject’s FACE only - particularly if they are smiling or are in a moment of reflection.

Why does this work? With less clutter in the image, there’s less to draw the eye away from the main subject of your photo. Also, human faces (particularly children’s faces) are something we all feel pleasure looking at.

If you can’t get close enough when you’re taking the shot, you can zoom in later using photo editing software - crop out everything except the subject’s face and see what a difference it makes.

When using the viewfinder for close shots, be careful of Parallax. Because the viewfinder is not at the same position as the camera’s lens, centering the subject in the viewfinder may mean it is not centered for the lens resulting in an off-center final picture. Most digital cameras now come with an inbuilt LCD screen. You can eliminate this problem by using the LCD - which shows you what the lens sees - rather than the viewfinder.

David Peterson has a great love of photography and has created a series of free tips at http://www.digital-photo-secrets.com/ to help digital photography users everywhere take better photos.

Has Telecommunications Changed Forever?

Technology executives are confident consumers will soon change how they make phone calls reducing the need for a phone line from a old school telecoms company. VoIP essentially turns telephone calls into data which is transferred via an IP network, and due to this simplicity the future for VoIP seems promising.

From the very start when Skype emerged on the scene the industry has been vibrant. Google has entered the internet telephony industry with an IM and voice application and is testing a Wi-Fi customer service that has the potential to deliver data to wireless devices.

The technology companies are already starting to sell double function products such as cameras which appear standard but when a person slides the back of the camera down, there’s a keypad for making calls. Memory sticks preloaded with a softphone are also now available. They come with a microphone and earphones.

Companies such as Google, Yahoo, and EarthLink have already experimented with such technology. Last spring Yahoo added improved VoIP calling to its its instant messenger program. Google has also released Google Talk. AOL has told the world it would be providing a VoIP service called TotalTalk. AOL’s TotalTalk will essentially let people replace their traditional landlines. It has advanced communication features, such as unified voice, e-mail and instant messaging, and call-management.

It could be argued the phone companies will face a huge challenge with these momentous changes emerging with VoIP technology.
