Virgin Media Starts the Process of Transparency among Internet Service Providers
Virgin Media has recently declared that it is committed to making its subscribers aware of actual broadband speeds it can offer at the time of subscribing to the service. The company has also updated the speed of its service and now its subscribers can download at speeds of up to 20Mb.
The company’s effort to make the subscribers aware of correct speeds has been driven by a recent report of Ofcom, which said that service providers often advertise speeds that they cannot actually provide. Thus, the company has decided that its ADSL broadband products shall either state the actual speed that it can provide or declare that the speed would be the best it can give - click for a broadband check.
Company CEO Neil Berkett said that subscribers often think the advertisements about internet speeds are either not ingenious or not correct. He added that his company is trying to make people aware of the actual speed it can provide to ensure a transparent and informed choice.
The company has also made some changes in its non-cable Virgin.net ADSL broadband service. The national subscribers do not have to pay any line rental fee to any other service provider as they can get a line directly from Virgin Media. Subscribers have also been offered services of mobile broadband for £5 that will allow them access to data of around 1GB.
