Podcast Listing Mistakes Every Podcast Producer Makes (And How to Avoid Them)

You’ve published your podcast and you smugly admire it in the many podcatchers you’ve submitted it to.

Despite all your hard work, you’re probably missing out on a ton of interview requests from journalists, authors and other podcasters simply because your podcast listing is confusing and hard to understand.

The way you list your podcast depends in large part on what fields the podcatcher provides. However, you can control this information in the way you edit your ID3 tag when you create a new podcast each week.

Stop missing out on interviews that could bring a ton of new subscribers to your podcast. Instead, follow these tips to ensure that it’s easy for journalists, authors and other podcasters to find your podcasts so you never miss an interview opportunity again.

  1. Lead your podcast title with the episode number. Some podcasters will remove older episodes from their server to make way for new ones. If you’re one of those podcasters who do this, most podcatchers will no longer list the removed podcasts in their directories. That means that to the interviewer, instead of seeing a long list of your podcasts, they may only see 5 or 10. The interviewer may make the assumption that you’re new to podcasting and will move on to another podcaster. By including the episode number in your podcast title, you alert the interviewer that you’re an old hag at this podcasting thing.

  2. Artist name should be yours, not your company’s. It’s very difficult to understand who WantAPodcastNow.com is. Instead, use your first and last name in the artist field when editing the ID3 tag. When entering your details in a podcatcher, include your first name and last name in the creator/host/producer field. That way, people can find you quickly using the search tool in a podcatcher’s search engine.

  3. Make the album name your email address. Nothing is more frustration for an interviewer than having to click through dozens of pages just to find an email address. Make it easy for the interviewer to contact you by using the album field in the ID3 tag for your email address. The interviewer will be grateful for this convenience, plus you lessen your chance of losing that ounce of free publicity.

  4. Keep your description short and sweet, please. In some podcatchers, only the first 10-words are visible to a podcast listener. Therefore, make these first 10-words count. You should liken it to your 30-second elevator pitch and use language that will entice the person to subscribe to your podcast. Put your copywriting skills to work.

  5. Ensure that your podcast is listed in the right category. Just because one category gets more traffic than another, it doesn’t mean you list your podcast there. Your goal is make it easy for subscribers - but more importantly interviewers - to find you based on your expertise you portray in your podcast and they can only do so if it is in the right place. Choose the right genre in your ID3 tag, and then choose the right categories when you list your podcast in podcatchers.

  6. Add a photo. Interviewers will judge your podcast by its virtual cover, so include a professionally designed, thumbnail-sized photo with your podcast listing. The interviewer will get the impression that you’ll be an ideal candidate based on that image alone.

The Dark Side of Podcasting

Podcasting is a great way to reach people and deliver your
message. But what happens when it gets your web site shut
down?

No, I’m not talking about copyright issues, spam or any of
the things you might think of. I’m talking about the problem
of “bandwidth”. I’ll bet you never even thought of that!

Here’s the problem: Podcast files can be very large. Some of
them are over 75MB in size. Every time a file is downloaded
you’re using bandwidth. And your web host puts a limit on how
much bandwidth you can use per month.

A great many web hosts will simply shut down your site when
you reach your limit for the month. Often they don’t even let
you know that it’s happened. When it does, though, your web
site and your podcast are BOTH “off the air”.

Let’s look at how and why this happens. Suppose you have
a 10MB podcast file you want to share with the world. And
let’s suppose you have a few people listening. But how many?
If your host gives you 10GB per month, up to 1000 people can
download the show. So far, so good.

Now suppose you get your podcast listed in iTunes. Suddenly
up to 40,000,000 people are aware of your podcast. Many of
them will want to hear it. That’s great, right?

Well, it is and it isn’t. If too many people start listening
to your podcast, you’ll end up using all of your bandwidth.
There’s nothing left for delivering web pages. So your site
goes down. Or - you get hit with a huge bill for those extra
gigabytes(GB) of bandwidth.

OOPS! You’ve just become a victim of your own success. It has
happened already. One podcaster got his show listed in iTunes
and went from 100 listeners to 6,000 listeners in a few days.
His podcast used 100GB of bandwidth in 3 days!

Guess who had to pay for it? Yep, HE did. Now this guy is very
serious about his show, and he pays the 100s of dollars a month
to make it available. Not everyone can do that…

So what’s the answer? That depends. How serious you are about
having people listen to your show? Can you make any money with
it? Will you make enough to at least cover your cost? And can
you keep your web site “live” for taking orders, etc.?

There are sites that will host and deliver your podcast for a
fee. The quality of service and the pricing varies. But at the
very least, your web site won’t be shut down just because your
podcast has become too successful.

Choose a podcasting service site that has a package you can
afford. Be sure that they actually deliver what they promise.
Be prepared to pay more for better service. And be sure you can
get help if you need it. Ask for actual customer’s comments!

For ease of use, a short learning curve and fanatical customer
service, I highly recommend:

Podcasting is a fairly new medium. It’s been around for about a
year. The growth rate is phenomenal and it’s here to stay. The
only question, really, is… When will you start podcasting?

Ample Benefits In Teaming Podcast Radio With Internet Marketing

As the host and Executive Producer of Google’s “number one” ranked PodCast Radio Show, I believe we have made a fairly significant discovery that you can almost immediately put in motion to bolster your Internet Marketing efforts, too.

The Art Of PodCasting

There is no dispute that streaming media has been deployed effectively across the Internet now for a number of years. Enthusiasts and professionals alike have clearly figured out how to write copy (for the spoken word), operate simple audio recording software applications, plug in a microphone and record basic as well as highly produced audio messages, presentations, training and yes, even advertisements.

Podcasting is truly nothing more than what I refer to as a blog “plug-in”. That is, combining a simple syndicatable blog with an audio component. The practice is very much like ordinary audio streaming (media delivery from server to browser), but with the ability to capture, download and install (automatically on the date and time of your choice) to either a local PC or directly into any one of today’s available hand-held audio devices such as iRiver, iPod or Creative Zen.

PodCast Marketing Opportunities

Today’s Internet marketers can now combine the power and almost lightning speed of blog syndication with valuable training and advertising messages (just like you might hear across your FM dial).

The PodCast Limit Is Your Imagination

Imagine uniting the ability to syndicate your blog and PodCast (audio component) globally in a matter of seconds.

You could easily and almost effortlessly deliver the following for added impact to your awaiting audience:

1. Product Information

2. Expert Interviews

3. Tutorials (FAQs)

4. Advertisements

5. Public Service Announcements (PSAs)

6. Fund Raising

7. Religious Programming

8. Self-Help and Personal Development

9. Coaching and Consulting

10. Meetings and Reporting

11. Network Marketing Development

These are just a tiny smattering of how you could merge blogging and PodCasting into your Internet Marketing model.

Building Strong Community

With blogging and PodCasting you are really building a more robust interactive community of listeners (prospects and customers). The blogging component allows for the easy implementation of questions, comments and suggestions from listeners (prospects and existing customers) directly into each and every blog/podcast post you make. Internet “stickiness” is key to nurturing a healthy Internet base. PodCasting is undeniably one perfect solution that can do just that for you.

A Search Engine Love Affair

Mindful search engine optimization practices are paramount and required if you are serious about leveling the Net’s playing field. Blogging and PodCasting will catapult your position faster than just about any other optimization method available anywhere.

Your PodCast (Audio Blog) will be speak very friendly to those web crawlers in that Podcsting puts in proper pecking order what I like to call the “Search Engine Algorithm - Big 3″.

They are:

1. Link Popularity

2. Text Rich

3. Link Rich

Learn All About PodCasting - Boost Awareness

Now’s the time to make your move. Get out there. Learn and discover all you can and start drafting your very own PodCast plans.

No matter what your Internet Marketing regimen currently consists of, you will certainly want the PodCast arrow placed neatly within your Marketing Quiver!

Happy PodCast Marketing!

Podcasting - What You Don’t Know Could Hurt Your Business

If you’ve been online recently, I’m sure you’ve heard about
podcasting. You might be wondering “What’s in it for me?”
Or perhaps “Why should I care about that?” There are many
valid reasons for you to get informed about this hot new
technology.

Think of a podcast as a way to deliver audio content to a
very large worldwide audience. The easiest analogy is to
think of this technology as giving you the power to create
your own online radio program.

First, the name is a little misleading. It comes from ‘iPod’
and “broadcasting”. It doesn’t mean you need an iPod to get
involved. You can listen right on your computer.

Podcasting is made possible by RSS (a type of XML computer
code). But have no fear! You don’t need to know programming
at all. RSS is simply a delivery system that allows people
to subscribe and stay up to date any time you add a new
podcast show.

Having an iPod or similar digital MP3 Audio player is not
required. You can download audio files to your device and
take the audio shows with you. Or you can simply stream the
audio and listen to the podcast show on your computer.

There is a lot of free podcast audio for you to listen to
online. Do a search for “podcast” or “MP3″ and you’ll see
what I mean.

What’s out there? Music, interviews, seminars, educational
shows, technology shows, news, sports…the list of topics
is amazing. Some people say that podcasting it’s going to
replace radio and TV.

Not True. However, podcasting is changing the face of online
audio and traditional radio. Podcasters already number in
the thousands. The number of businesses and individuals
making podcasts is growing at a rapid pace.

So where can you find these podcasts? Check out any of these
sites:

http://www.podblaze.com
http://www.podcastalley.com
http://www.podcastbunker.com

Or search for more of these directories with Google, Yahoo,
and other search engines and directories.

What about making your own podcast for your own business or
website? That’s not exactly rocket science. Get some sound
recording software (Audacity or WavePad, for example) and a
microphone. Then record some MP3 files yourself.

All that’s left is to get them up on the web somewhere and
have them formatted into RSS. Some blogging software and
services allow you to attach audio to a blog post. There’s
even free programs you can use.

For example, you could open a Producer account at:

http://www.podblaze.com

You can start with the free account, which lets you store up
to 40MB of MP3 files on their server. It’s enough for about
four half-hour shows.

That’s an easy and risk-free way to try out podcasting. They
also have paid accounts for people who want to do more than
experiment with this new media.

Now why would you want to podcast? I can think of many good
reasons. Here’s a few: Put some recordings of your band up
and maybe you’ll get a recording contract. Sweet!

If you did a teleseminar, make it available to the world.
Position yourself as an expert and people will take you more
seriously.

Maybe you know about news items that the local and national
media won’t pick up. Podcasting gives your story a chance to
be heard. Maybe you just want to share something personal
with the world.

Whatever your reason for wanting to put your music or voice
on the web, podcasting is an easy and inexpensive way to do
it. So pick up that microphone and record your thoughts. I’m
waiting to hear it.

enough for anyone to use.

PodCast Marketing: How Effectively Are You Deploying This Definitive Marketing Solution?

Each day starts and usually ends with the same BIG question. Our clients and prospects ask us, “How can I grow my business and capture my fair market share?” Our answer is quite simply, “Build yourself a base of prospects and work that pipeline relentlessly and efficiently.”

One BIG tip that I can offer you as read my short synopsis today, learn how to become a successful PodCaster and watch your bottom-line fly skyward!

Over the past decade, the Internet has created many new breakthrough marketing mediums. From successful ezine publishing and distribution straight through to more pronounced search engine optimization practices.

As a television and radio broadcaster/marketing consultant, I have had the sincere pleasure of understanding just how important both the radio and television marketing methods are to businesses and individuals in getting the word out to their prospective audience.

Our weekly online radio show, Net Talk Radio has been received very well amongst listeners and advertisers alike. I guess I always knew that in time, connectivity speeds and portable hand-held devices would ultimately allow for a more expansive target audience reach.

The day has finally arrived!

Although, we began using our online talk radio format years ago, we are now able to sweeten the pie by allowing our listeners to almost effortlessly download our show (information and entertainment) right into the iPod and iRiver devices. Now our audience can listen where ever and whenever “they” like. Plus, as an added-value benefit to us and our valuable advertisers, we can track every hit (listener) around the clock for about the cost of a cup of coffee! We make all this happen by deploying one of today’s best emerging audio/blogging technologies popularly referred to as, “PodCasting”.

PodCast Marketing: *Anyone Can Do This!

First, What is Podcasting?

Podcasting is a term that manifested as a fresh way to describe the technology used to push (share) audio content from web sites down to consumers (clients) of that content, who usually listen to it on an iPod (hence the term “pod”) or any other type of .mp3 player (iRiver) at their command, convenience and control.

PodCasting is somewhat similar to the concept of time-shifted video software and devices like TiVo, which let you watch what you want exactly when you want it by simply recording and storing video, except that PodCasting is primarily used for audio to date. (Universal video deployment is most likely just around the corner.) With that stated I should explain, however, that this easy to use emerging technology can be used to push (deploy) any kind of file such as photos (images), software updates, videos and/or text.

PodCasting uses an XML-based technology called RSS (Real Simple Syndication). Content publishers (PodCasters) describe new content in an XML RSS file which includes dates, titles, descriptions, and specifics links to the .mp3 files. This “automatically” generated file is referred to as an RSS feed. Dave Winer is considered by many to be the creator of RSS and a pioneer in the environment of applied XML. The component to making PodCasting work with RSS is “enclosures” (remember that term), an element supported by RSS 2.0.

As a consumer or end-user, you simply run an “aggregator” (remember this term, too) program like MTV’s Adam Curry’s iPodder software on your local computer, which lets you easily subscribe to RSS feeds. Programs like Adam’s will either by schedule or by random design, download the RSS files, and check to see if any fresh content is available. If new content exists, the audio files are automatically downloaded and put into a folder (of your choice) on your hard disk or directly routed to your mp3 player.

I used an asterisk as noted above to make this very honest and often painful-to-some disclaimer. When I stated that “Anyone Can Do This”, I should more accurately state, “Anyone that properly learns (from a real professional) and activates their own PodCast process can reap the significant harvest of BIGGER numbers by creating and nurturing their own emerging community. As an online business owner this is HUGE and required! This marketing solution can not only make you financially solvent, it can even make you a “STAR”!

Fitting The PodCast Magic Into Your Arsenal

Here now is a list of things to do to prepare yourself for your first PodCast presentation.

1. Research The PodCast Element

Learn precisely what PodCasting is all about and how it works. I recommend visiting http://www.google.com and typing, “PodCast Radio” into the search field.

2. Physically Search Out Only The True Professionals

Create a list of those PodCasters that undeniably know exactly what they are doing. Align your yourself with only the best. From this list, call them on the phone and pick their brain(s). If you cannot locate an actual telephonic point of contact, I strongly urge you to wipe them from your list. You want to do business with those that believe in “touching” their market with more intimacy and one-to-one personalization rather than just an email. Remember, you are looking for a friend. A mentor. Not necessarily someone to take your money and be off. A solid partnership (friendship) is your objective here.

3. Discover Your Passion

What passion do you share with others? What true value will your audience glean from you? Who is your target audience? Understand your “WHY”!

4. Develop Your Plan & Work Your Process

What do you need to learn? What do you need to do? What specific date will you be ready? Who will provide you with the support you will need to fulfill your plan. What equipment is required?

5. Make Your Podcast Happen!

As you roll out your “new-to-you” adventure, don’t expect total perfection on day one. Be kind to yourself and know that you will evolve. We all started from square one. You should have heard my first radio air check from my first radio gig in Bakersfield, California. I sounded just like a bumbling knucklehead. :-) Enough practice and desire can make you near perfect, but do be fair with you and give yourself time to grow.

Listen to other Pro-PodCasters. Listen to your local radio stations. Read books and articles like this one on a daily basis. (I do it everyday!)

6. Finally… No Excuses!

If you “really” want to crank up the heat on your marketing efforts, than PodCasting will give you the significant marketing advantage.

Know this…

Others will talk about it, but never make their move.

You, on the other hand, will except no feeble excuses and get working on your very first PodCast right away! (At the very least, be sure to move PodCasting up near the top of “TO-DO” list!

In closing today…

I have illustrated only a fraction of what you must know before you go piling into your PodCast endeavor full steam ahead. Be sure to identify and experiment with all angles of marketing when it comes to producing an on-going, money-generating PodCast production for all the world to hear and take notice!

Happy PodCast Marketing!

How To Use a Podcast For Internet Marketing

Although podcasting is trendy, it’s vital to remember that when you use a podcast for Internet marketing, your podcast is really just another delivery mechanism - a way to get your marketing message across.

Because it is a new delivery mechanism, there’s a chance you’ll get so wrapped in the technology that you’ll forget the basics, the AIDA formula. You need to give people something that they want to listen to, and you can’t go wrong with the AIDA formula. AIDA is used in copywriting, and is an acronym: AIDA means Attract/ Attention, Interest, Desire, Action.

You need to get people’s attention, arouse their interest in your product, get them to want it, and finally take action to buy it.

Using AIDA In Your Podcasts

You can use the AIDA formula to market your products via podcasts in several ways.

Firstly, you can use the podcast to attract people to a Web site where you’re selling products related to the podcast theme. The podcast is the attention-getter. You can have ads on your site selling your products, and include mention of them in the podcast too.

Next, include valuable information or entertainment in your podcasts to make sure that people subscribe. When they subscribe, you can market to them over and over again. This is the Interest factor.

You arouse Desire by mentioning your products and their benefits in your podcasts.

Finally, you need a call to Action, to ensure that people take action. “Buy before midnight on Thursday, and receive _________”

Making Your First Podcast

Making a podcast (it’s really just making an MP3 file) couldn’t be simpler. Here are the steps:

1. Plug a microphone into your computer;

2. Record your podcast using a program like Audacity at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ (it’s free);

3. Create an RSS feed - more information on that here http://www.ipodder.org/whatIsPodcasting (don’t let the technical jargon make you nervous, the RSS Feed is just a reference enclosure that lets listeners know when you’ve put a new podcast online);

4. Upload the podcast to your Web site, and then upload the podcast’s RSS Feed to a destination like Podcast Alley at http://www.podcastalley.com/ so that you can start getting a mass of happy subscribers.

Get Interviewed On a Podcast

If you don’t want to make your own podcasts, offer yourself as an interviewee on other people’s podcasts. This saves you the trouble of recording your own material and putting it online, and you can promote your products on someone else’s show as easily as you can on your own.

When you create your own podcasts, you’ll want to ask people to join you for an interview too. You can even ask people to send you MP3 files of questions or tips, that you can include in your podcast.

So there you have it: podcasting, another tool to add to your Internet marketing toolbox. If the idea appeals, give podcasting a try.

Vox Populi: Popular podcasts on the net

The overwhelming popularity of portable MP3 players has brought with it all new innovations in using this new technology. The most popular application that has come out recently are podcasts.

Podcasts are the automatic distribution of MP3 files via RSS or XML. With podcasts, a user downloads software and installs it in order to receive their favorite podcasts automatically from the podcast’s website. Apple iTunes is an example of a podcast software that can deliver podcasts to your personal computer. The files that are downloaded come in an mp3 format and you can then listen to them in your personal computer or better yet, on your portable MP3 player so you can bring your podcast episodes wherever you go.

Podcasts are like radio programs with one big difference. Anyone can make and distribute their podcasts. This makes it a true populist initiative. Podcasters can rant about their favorite political issue, talk about their CD collections, discuss plot twists in their favorite comic book titles or even advise people about how to make podcasts. The subjects and topics that can be discussed in podcasts are only limited by your imagination.

Just like popular TV or radio shows, there are already podcasts that can be considered as widely popular. Below are some popular podcasts that you should try:

The Onion Radio News - This is a daily podcast that features short news clips from The Onion’s 24 hour radio news network. For those who still don’t know The Onion, it is an online “news network” that puts a satirical spin on the latest news and political issues.

New York Times Front Page - This is a daily summary of the top headlines of every weekday morning.

X-Play Daily Videogame Podcast - This is another daily podcast that offers gamers the latest gaming news, tips, tricks as well as previews of upcoming games.

Meditation Station - This podcast is aimed at people who are stressed and are seeking to achieve a little focus on their hectic lives. The regular meditations can help you de-stress.

This Week in Tech - This award-winning podcast finds Leo Laporte and other well-known tech luminaries discussing the latest tech trends.

Science Friday - Making Science Radioactive - this weekly podcast discusses the latest news and trends in science, technology, health and the environment.

Ebert & Roeper - Popular film critics Ebert & Roeper review and discuss the merits (or demerits) of the latest movies showing in Hollywood.

Indiefeed: Alternative/Modern Rock - This is a great way of getting great songs from the alternative/modern rock genre. Everyday the podcast features one song that includes information about the artist as well as where to buy the album. This podcast is redefining how music is being delivered to people.

The Catalyst Podcast - This is a community that aims to raise the next generation of leaders and teaches them about the church and culture.

Penn Jillette - The popular and edgy magician airs excerpts of his popular satellite radio show to his fans.

Travel with Rick Steves - This is a weekly hour-long conversation with experts and callers about travel, culture, people and the kind of stories that you only get when you travel.

Philip Nicosia is the webmaster of Podcastblaster.com, which supplies podcasting software and information all about podcasting. podcast software.

How Podcasting Works

Essentially, podcasting allows you to select the things you’d like to listen to, subscribe to them, have them downloaded to your computer or portable audio device, and listen to them when you want to. Once you’ve subscribed, they will update automatically for you, like a magazine you don’t think about until the subscription arrives in your mailbox every month.

What is the advantage of a podcast over other types of broadcasting? Podcasts assimilate radio, portable CD players, and satellite radio, into one convenient format, and allow new uses not previously available. So what is it that you can listen to? What kinds of podcasting are available? The answer to those questions is this: everything you can possibly imagine! You will be amazed at the volume and variety of podcasts out there and the possibilities that exist.

Just as the Internet has allowed pretty much anybody to create visual files of information and entertainment, called web pages, podcasting has allowed virtually anybody to create audio files of information and entertainment. While the technical details are not important here, all someone needs in order to become a podcaster is a computer and an Internet hook-up. You don’t even need a microphone to create your first podcast. (You may want to get one later, but you don’t need one now). In fact, if you have a telephone and can browse the Internet, you will be able to listen to podcasts and even create your first podcast by the end of the next chapter!

Who can podcast? Anyone can podcast! We’ll go into much greater detail later about who might want to podcast, but generally speaking, there are several reasons why everyone would want to podcast:

• Organizations like churches and nonprofits will podcast to keep people up to date with what’s going on, providing news, seminars and speeches, meeting transcriptions, etc.

• Businesses will podcast to maintain their name in the marketplace, offer information on products or strategies, and position themselves as the expert in their industry.

• Individuals will podcast if they have something to say to the world. Opinions, rants, and artistic offerings are all fair game in podcasting.

Podcasting formats are as varied as the types of podcasts available. Some podcasts are like monologues where one person simply shares their ideas into a microphone for the listener to hear. Other podcasts are a dialogue between two or more people and may or may not follow format. Some podcasts are unscripted while others seem to be very scripted. Podcasting contain music, interviews, and while audio podcasts are quite popular now, audio/video podcasts are slowly gaining popularity as well.

All the best for your online success

Business Idea: Podcasts

Podcasts have been popping up all over the Internet in the past year or so. I have come across podcasts on anything from the latest tech gadgets to gardening tips. With millions of listeners out there and plenty of new people listening to podcasts every single day, now is a great time to start your own podcast and make some money along the way.

So far podcasts sound pretty similar to an Internet Talk Radio Show, doesn’t it? Even though the two have many similarities, there are also quite a few differences. Podcasts are unusually not as structured as an Internet Talk Radio show. The tone of a podcast is very informal. Podcasts are usually on blogs and are also available for automatic download to your mp3 player through RSS. Podcasts also don’t have guests on every show. The host of the podcasts does a lot of the talking him or herself. Podcasts be shorter or just as long as a talk radio show, plus they can vary in length from one show to the next.

There is a little bit of both hardware and software you will need for a good sounding podcast. Podcasts are usually broadcast as mp3’s, so you need some sort of software to record your show as well as a decent microphone. Plantronics has some great mike’s available. You can either use software like Allrecorder or a complete service like Audio Acrobat that will also host your audio files for you. Having your files hosted through a service like audio acrobat has the added benefit that people listening to and downloading your podcast will not eat up your bandwidth. This may save you quite a bit of money in hosting fees. You also don’ t have to worry about troubleshooting when there is an issue with the audio files.

Let’s talk about how you can start making money with your podcast. Your two main sources of income will be paid advertising and affiliate programs. You can sell 30 - 60 second ad spots on your podcast, as well as advertising spots on the site that links to the audio file of your podcast. As far as affiliate marketing goes, you can promote related products on your website and mention them in your show. If a listener follows your recommendation and buys the product through your link you will make a commission.

Another, newer source of income for podcasts that’s starting to pop up is sponsorship. Companies will pay good money to be mentioned as the main sponsor of the podcast both on your podcast website and in the show itself. Once your podcast attracts some listeners and you start getting some publicity, it should be easy to attract a corporate sponsor. In the meantime you could contact a few small businesses in your target market that may be interested in sponsoring your podcast for a few months.

Now sit down, grab a pen and paper and come up with a great topic you can talk about for hours. Jot down a few ideas and start recording. Before you know it, your first own podcast will be up online.

Real Estate Podcasts - Why Builders and Realtors Benefit from This Technology

Real Estate Podcasting is slowly trickling into construction builders & real estate companies business models. As the revelation of practical uses for this new medium become more and more apparent to business owners, a new form of online real estate sales begins.

Podcasting has gained popularity over the last year at an intense growth rate. The reason for this success, is due large in part to the success of the Apple’s iPod. A name in which no way offers ownership of podcasting to Apple, but it does however give the computer giant, a fantastic product association whenever the word is uttered.

Podcasts are now able to be played on a plethora of devices, iPods, Psp’s, Video Cellphones, PDA’s, Pocket PC’s, Ultra Moblie PC’s, Tivo 2, and more. This explosion in accessibility is what is directly making podcasting a viable business tool; directly enhancing and affecting the way internet marketing, sales, and promotions are being used, as well as customizing its uses to any specific business brand or industry.

With Real Estate podcasting, the return on investment begins as soon as the first podcast is downloaded. In today’s modern world time is a luxury, traveling is not always convenient, and efficiency is always top priority. Real estate podcasts merge accessibility with efficiency, and convenience with the comfort of buying.

When an interested party is shopping for a potential home or investment, they want to make sure they see and know as much as possible about the property before making a decision. Unfortunately, property purchasers are routinely disparaged by the lack of available pictures, data and information on a website. In addition, the inconvenience of scheduling a viewing of the potential property can be a deterrent as well. Real estate video podcasts allow the user to view a full video tour of the property along with an audio voice over of the broker’s listing information. These podcasts features high quality sales information scripts with beautiful pictures and live motion video, giving you a feel for the environment from any geographic location.

Real estate podcasts are meant to serve as a teaser to your buying audience. Especially for those who may have never inquired further, until they were tantalized by the visual satisfaction they were able to receive immediately.

Real estate podcasting really becomes advantageous when the subscription model is attached. All podcasts can be subscribed to, with one click of a button, through your local aggregator, like iTunes, My Yahoo!, Goole reader, etc…

Once a podcast is subscribed to, the user will receive every new podcast that is published to the file immediately as it is distributed. With home builders and realtors, this becomes highly advantageous for residual marketing and sales efforts. Having a direct link to an interested party allows the business to implement more highly targeted sales campaigns, geared towards specific individual & group needs. Investors can receive up to date video listings of new investment opportunities on the market. Home buyers who are looking over an extended period of time, can remain interactive with your company by receiving all the new updates of new properties in the area as they are available.

Podcasts are not only used in conjunction with a company’s website, but they are also listed in podcast directories, such as iTunes, Odeo, Yahoo Podcasts!, Google Base, etc. These directories are visual catalogues of podcast content. They organize the podcasts into segmented categories and then rank the most popular ones accordingly. The higher a podcast is ranked in its particular category, the more visibility that podcast receives. The great thing about podcast directories is that it separates the users into targeted demographics, by segmenting the location of the podcasts listed on the directory by category and information. This presents incredible potential for the business to create multi level marketing campaigns, aimed at their ideal demographic using this targeted method of consumer reach.

For the first time ever, the commercial industry has control on a direct avenue for multimedia distribution and penetration to the market based upon consumer demand and needs on a global scale. This control not only integrates seamlessly with internet technology, but it merges the traditional elements of sale, publicity and marketing with modern points of access and distribution.

Real Estate podcasting allows home builders, brokers, buyers, sellers, investors and any interested party the chance to preview a product anywhere, anytime, and on any device they choose. The use of podcasting in the real estate industry will not only increase technological confidence among home buyers, but it will directly affect corporation’s turnover times, thereby increasing revenue and ultimately the bottom line.
